Cruising – Labor Day 2015

Labor Day Weekend, September 6,7, 2015.

Seven yachts carrying LSSC Burgees made the trip across the lake to Belle River Marina, Lakeshore, Ontario.

A most unusual voyage with favorable winds for sailing the distance. Both ways!

The weekend theme was Mardi Gras!IMG_3867

Hot Humid weather set the mood in New Orleans. Saturday a Hurricane made landfall in the harbor and Lady Diane filled a good many icy glasses with her delicious New Orleans fruit/rum concoction.

Sunday, the morning started with Donuts and Coffee service.

Lady Linda Lang and Lady Susan Sonye treated us all to Bananas Foster pancakes, a New Orleans original!

Later, a Mardi Gras parade around the pavilion provided the spectators huge entertainment value as those wearing costumes strutted their stuff. Beads were thrown, drinks were spilled, and Jazz music filled the air, just like New Orleans

Potluck Dinner, visa vi New Orleans, brought Gumbo Ya Ya, Jambalaya, Chicken Andouille Pasta, Shrimp Creole, Cheese Grits, Crab Spread, Cajun Citrus Salad, Brown Rice, Mozzerella Tomatoes, Fruit, Cookies and Cupcakes.

Lady Linda Lang made RUM Cake to celebrate the Birthday of Brian Lang. We sang and we all drank cake!!

As darkness fell upon the shoreline, a séance was held by Spiritualist Lady Barbara over her crystal ball, revealing our animated alter egos.

Exhausted, we found the safety of our pillows for the clear dark night before ending the weekend with a smooth sail home.

Thanks for all who participated and shared this intimate LSSC Weekend.
